چکیده

Based on bio-chemical ground we derive an aquarium mathematical model useful for predicting dangerous situations as well as for the startup cycle. This model is a basic step toward a more complex advection–diffusion–reaction model in 3D space variables: it defines the reaction part of the more complex partial differential equations model. For the numerical solution of our aquarium model we apply a low complexity second order method combined with a simple adaptive step-size selection procedure. The low accuracy and complexity of the resulting numerical algorithm are motivated because of the high complexity of the final 3D model. The reported numerical results, and comparisons with the know-how available in literature, show the validity of the proposed model. 2005 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Experimental Study and Numerical Modeling of CO2 Bio-Fixation in a Continues Photobioreactor

A dynamic numerical model was developed to predict the biomass concentration, pH, and carbon dioxide fixation rate in the continuous culture of cyanobacteria in a photobioreactor. The model is based on the growth rate equation of microalgae combined with mass transfer equations for gas and liquid phases in the photobioreactor as well as thermodynamic equilibrium of inorganic carbon ions in the ...

Chemical Reaction Effects on Bio-Convection Nanofluid flow between two Parallel Plates in Rotating System with Variable Viscosity: A Numerical Study

In the present work, a mathematical model is developed and analyzed to study the influence of nanoparticle concentration through Brownian motion and thermophoresis diffusion. The governing system of PDEs is transformed into a coupled non-linear ODEs by using suitable variables. The converted equations are then solved by using robust shooting method with the help of MATLAB (bvp4c). The impacts o...

Cell damaging by irradiating non-thermal plasma to the water: Mathematical modeling of chemical processes

Recently non-thermal plasma (NTP) is applied for many therapeutic applications. By NTP irradiating to the tissues or cell-lines, the water molecules (H2O) would be also activated leading to generate hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). By irradiating plasma to bio-solution, its main output including vacuum UV to UV causes the photolysis of H2O leading to generat...

Mathematical Modeling of Gas Adsorption Processes in Packed Bed: The Role of Numerical Methods on Computation Time

Rigorous mathematical modeling of adsorption processes in packed beds involves time-consuming computations which are considered as the fundamental weakness of such thorough mathematical models. Thus, reducing the computation time was a key factor in improving adsorption mathematical models. In order to achieve this goal, an attempt was made to know how much using different numerical methods inf...

Mathematical Modeling of Fixed Bed Adsorption: Influence of Main Parameters on Breakthrough Curve

Dynamic modeling and simulation of fixed bed adsorption process was carried out by explaining the behavior of breakthrough curve parameter. Adsorption of sulfur compound, present in road fuel, has posed a great challenge. A model of fixed bed adsorption of benzothiophene from fuel was formulated with non-ideal plug flow behavior and considered velocity variation along a column. The model was so...
